ALL ELSE BEING EQUAL, if the same bike with the same performance was presented to me in electric and gas versions, there's no doubt that I'd be all over the electric one - both for environmental and practical reasons.Depends how ya define "performance"... One simple experiment ya can try with yer gas machine some cold morning. Grab yerself a coffee and paper, then fire up the bike and let it warm up a good long time. After a while... give it some time... but after a while, get up and open the garage door. Lemme know how it goes. Lock |

Sounds more like an IQ test to me. ;)

Sounds more like an IQ test to me. ;) HAHA I've been driving a car for over 5 years, but am a little younger than you. I also have never gotten around to completing my G license. The plan is electric bike for now, and once the technology catches up to gas, an electric motorcycle. I'll post an update after I stop in there today. ~D |

So, long story short, went into eprider today.
The 2010 model will cost me $2900 with a lithium. (20 ah) The 2011 model will cost me $3100 with a lithium. The 2011 has better support at the front (shocks? or suspension?) and the wheels are 4" wide instead of 3". So the 2010 model will cost me ~$700 more than the X55L I had seen at EMMO, but the frame and torque feel much sturdier. Decisions, decisions ![]() Oh! and how much do you think a brand-new SLA would be worth (48V 20Ah)? The prices are all with me deducting the amount he will buy it from me for. Maybe I could sell it for a little more, to someone here or elsewhere? |

D, are the WHEELS an inch wider, or just the tires? There's often some leeway in what size tires will fit on a given rim size, so it's not uncommon to see the same size rims listed with different sizes of tire mounted on them.
If it's just the tire, and the rim is the same size, then ask how much the tires cost as individual parts. Probably not a lot - typical Chinese ebike tires are about 30$, so Motorino's Kenda tires are probably 40-50$. The wider tire will provide more stability and is a nice feature to have but you might be able to just upgrade the tires yourself for less then the price difference between the two models. |

D, are the WHEELS an inch wider, or just the tires? ... He said the WHEEL, and it looks like the wheel, but I will find out for sure before I take the plunge. I think I'm going with the 2010 anyway once payday comes. If its the tire,I may do that upgrade when the old ones wear out. |

Gregory, the free parking for motorcycles and scooters only applies to on street parking during the times that it is legal to park at that meter. If you live downtown you probably don't have a house with a garage.
A parking space at most apartment buildings I hear is around $100/month. Not sure what an overnight street parking permit for a motorcycle in a residential area might be, or if they even differentiate between bike and car. Bicycles and e-bikes always get free parking. |

I hadn't considered renting an apartment parking spot, so, yes, that could cost something.
As far as street parking, keep in mind that Toronto Police have a stated policy of not ticketing scooters parked on sidewalks, despite that legally they'd be entirely allowed to do so. This gives scooters a lot of flexibility in where they park. Overnight street parking permits for motorcycles and scooters in residential areas were free last time I checked (EDIT: Confirmed, still free), and from what I've heard they'll often keep sending them to you even after you've moved away from the area the permit was for.
