I have been lurking around waiting to see if someone had identified a good source for new SLA bats.

Those 12v 15AH batteries for 45 with free shipping on a set of 4 looks mighty appetizing. The size is right, and the increased distance, and less voltage drop would be nice. The current bats from buying the bike second hand seem to be doing well enough that I can't justify it yet.

With the SLA pack on mine being as "dumb" as mine, wires only, no electronics, i'll easily save myself a good chunk of cash over having my batteries rebuilt in a shop.

Thanks.

Found the source for those "silicone" batteries...

Canada City Lighting Corporation appears to be the importer:
http://www.canadacity...

Doing business as Silicone Batteries Inc.:
http://www.siliconeba...

Lotta broken links about the batts on the Canada City Lighting site which makes me wonder... but they list one distributor, in Gatineau, Quebec, Bouendeu CleanTech Inc.:
http://www.bouendeu-c...

And their product catalogue PDF shows the batts as well:
http://www.bouendeu-c...

Turns out the manufacturer is actually the Guangdong Jiangmen Yuyang Special Batteries CO.,LTD that use the brand name "GUINENG" (Canada City Lighting et al refer to them as "Green Star"), here:
http://www.guineng.co...

While the Canadian importer and dealers are a bit vague about these batteries, Guineng are more up front about "... silicate salt is used as electrolyte".

Their "Applications" page has a table that details their claims for improved performance over "standard sealed lead-acid batteries:
http://www.guineng.co...

Just thought I would add this info here for folks still interested in riding lead...

The only problem with the nuclear batteries is they cost a hundred thousand dollars each, and when they explode, they take out ten city blocks.

Thank you Allan...I exploded into laughter when I read that...the shockwaves only took out my two sons...need more of that humour on the posts!
