So Jim... Hi, LocK, sorry didn't see your reply, from the picture i looked at, (the blue one) it looks like it should, it looks like the old 350-500w gio or Daymak, frame that uses the standard 16in hub, (48V -16in) the plugs should be the same, if not just switch over the old ones, just make very sure to follow the colour code....or you will own a doorstop... :) unless the rim is really trashed, or out of round, I would just sand off any burrs, and if the rim will hold the bead of the tire onto the rim @ 40psi, a new tire and tube should have him up and running, (with luck, just a new tube) a new set of both front and rear tires and tubes would cost less then $100. much less then a new rear end... I've done tire repairs on some of the GiO units I've sold, that were ridden for miles flat, and have not had to replace a rim, (yet) I should make a video on how to repair, or replace both front and rear tires/tubes and other common stuff, lights, brakes, fuses etc.. I have a 2011 GiO 500W+ unit that I stripped down right out of the crate, I use it, as a training aid and a template, to fix any problems someone may show up with, other then the odd flat tire, or light out, the only problem so far, has been rear sprockets not being torqued on...very simple fix, re-thread the sprocket onto the hub, tighten by turning clockwize until tight, put the right side petal on, with the rear wheel of the bike on the ground, standing next to the bike, use your left foot with the petal @ 3 o'clock and kick down HARD.. repeated two or three times...yes you can use locktight if you like, and no you will not break the chain jim Edited by Jim Hopkins on Nov 12, 2011 5:25 PM |

was Riding home from Burlington Mail got nail in Rear Tire. Hi Marg, at this point, all we are looking at is a flat tire, from what we have read, let's see a few pictures of the problem. I want to see if we can come up with a simple safe repair at next to nothing cost, if they said it would be all winter to save up for a repair, i'll take that at face value, and offer up parts at my cost, to help out.. just paying it forward... jim |
