There seems to be a lot of problems with e-bikes and riding in the rain. Here's an article on things to do to make your e-bike more water resistant.

I'm surprised that BionX has done a lot of work to make their connections and components water resistant and then leave the socket for the battery charger wide open to the elements. I did read in another forum where water was seeping into a BionX control console.

What I have done is put dielectric grease on all my connections and taped them up with electrical tape. My controller is very water proof from the factory. As I said before about being in that hurricane like storm and getting drenched my scooter had no ill effects. I did take everything apart and dry it out afterwards.

Well this Sunday I am disassembling my signal, head light and tail / brake light assemblies to re chrome them. after the chrome is dry I am going to seal the assemblies up with silicone. I have never had a lot of water collect in them, but enough has collected though to cause the chrome plating on the reflectors to pit and deteriorate with surface corrosion. Also my plastic lenses has yellowed from the sun so I bought a kit that will remove the yellowing from the plastic and resurface the plastic back to factory condition.

According to the Owner's Guide from my bike "this bike is not afraid of the rain", so I should be fine!!wink
(This is not the most humorous of the translations from Chinese in the Guide).

Not only does my e-bike need waterproofing but so do I. It's hard to find the ideal wet weather gear to wear. I've been looking at various treatments to put on clothing for wet weather e-biking.

Nikwax manufactures high quality cleaning and waterproofing products. Nikwax prolongs the life and enhances the performance of clothing, footwear & equipment. Whether you work or spend your leisure time outside, Nikwax keeps you dry.
