Saw one yesterday on Bloor W (sidewalk, actually)...
When the US CPSC studied accident stats for kids on kick scooters, they discovered that the kids on the scoots were having half as many accidents as their classmates that were riding pedal bikes, and that their injuries were a lot less severe... I've been kicking most of the last ten years... Not a Kickbike(tm) as illustrated in that article, but smaller 12.5" wheels. I'm going to 16" front wheel now that has a 600W hub motor, only `cause it's impossible to find good tires etc for 12.5" wheels. Still going to keep the back wheel tiny `cause then it's out of the way of the kicks. Another attraction is the absence of pedals and sprockets and chain etc... silent running. Scandinavians that race these things (non-powered) can sprint to 40kmh... They are safer around pedestrians too, in the way that it easier and faster for the rider to dismount as compared to straddling a pedal bike... Before I got my first scoot I never realized that I am left-footed... ![]() tks Lock ps...in the first quarter 2007 Wyeth sold over $26 million US of Preparation H... Up over 12% from the year previous... ![]() Edited by lOCk on Sep 12, 2009 4:58 AM |
