Twist Grip Throttle For BionX
This is a project that I hope Ken Finch can help me with later on in the fall. The control console for the BionX system does not ideally fit on the handlebars of many bikes. With a gear shifter, brake handle and handlebar grip, there just isn't enough straight handlebar left to properly mount the control console. As a result, it's often difficult to use the throttle lever that is attached to the control console. The lever is a somewhat flimsy design and when riding on rough roads and trails, it's easy to snap the throttle lever off when traveling over a bump. It sure would be nice to tap into the control console and run wires to a proper twist grip throttle. Any suggestions Ken? |

Well from what little information I have read on the BionX system it's throttle is a variable resistance type of throttle where the majority of E-Bike twist throttle use a magnet and a Hall Effect Transistor. Two completely different technologies that are not easily and cheaply made compatible without a electronic conversion circuit and some reprogramming of the BionX system. Since this is going to have to be very inexpensive project to be viable and we do not have access to the programming logic within the BionX system I would say this is not a viable project.
