Changing Codes In The BionX Control Console
There is some very sophisticated software built in to the BionX system. Most of it is in the printed circuit boards that are located inside the battery case. Some adjustments can be made via the control console but the rest is done at the factory. In the users guide there are some codes that are OK for the customer to use. http://www.ebikerider... The picture is of an older console with NO throttle lever. The new ones are black in color and have the throttle lever attached. There are different software versions even in the black ones. A black 2008 console is NOT interchangeable with a black 2009 one. If there is a program screw-up, simply changing the console doesn't solve the problem. The main programming is in the battery compartment. I am new to BIONX and bought recently a PL 350 in USA and took it with me to Europe. http://visforvoltage.... Pardon me for being facetious and sarcastic, but this is sortakinda like saying; "Ooops! I just accidentally reformatted my hard drive and now my computer doesn't work." I can just imagine what my computer dealer would say if I told him that my cat had walked across my keyboard and now the hard drive has been reformatted. I can see the look on his face when I ask him if buying a new keyboard will fix the problem. And when I ask him if my accident is covered under warranty....... I can picture a 16 yr old kid rechipping the computer in his Honda so the RPM's can get to 50,000. Then when his engine blows up and he asks the Honda dealer if his engine replacement is covered under warranty........... It's no wonder that Alain Marchand at BionX sounded totally stressed out when I talked to him. I don't have a lot of money (my fault because I don't work much) and when I spent $2,200 to get my BionX installed (the dealer did more than just this to my bike), it was a big expense to me. I can't afford to play around and risk ruining my BionX system and battery so I am really nervous about entering codes and making any changes to the factory settings. I deliberately purchased my BionX from a dealer who is a few blocks from my home. I let him do any changes and if he screws up, the warranty is still valid. At my age, I'm finally beginning to recognize when I have surpassed my maximum level of incompetence. (blush) |
