At Canadian Tire this week the automobile E-plate is on sale for $29.95 (regularly $49.95). Since my Condor has a 48V to 12V DC to DC converter I installed a while ago I have a 12v power source. So I bought the E-plate and found out the actual LED sign module can snap out of the plastic automobile license plate frame. So I then mounted it on the back of my Condor and ran the wires on the inside of my Condor along the main wiring harness hidden from outside view. I then wired the black and red power wires to the 48V to 12V DC to DC converter and ran the brake light wire from the sign to the switch that turns on my running lights. That way I can switch the plate on or off via switch on my dash. It can remember up to 5 messages of 250 characters in length with or without power in 5 memory locations. And it is easy to program or switch between the memories with the included Inferred remote control. I programmed the 1st memory with "Ken Finch's Condor E-Bike" and the 2nd memory with "Mobility Unlimited 416-778-9586"

Wouldn't you think that this is distracting to other drivers? Sure it adds bling, but why? Does it only appear when you're stopped? Otherwise it sounds like a safety hazard.
I don't quite get it. You want to advertise who you are to motorists when you're riding your eBike? I may consider getting one if it's safe and adds levity to the driving experience. How about messages like this: "Keep a safe distance back" "Please share the road" "Electricity!" "Life begins at 32" "My other bike is a hybrid" |

Well I have had it installed for a few days now and no problems with drivers behind me. It is there for bling and to tell drivers I am an E-Bike. While riding my Condor while on a job for Mobility Unlimited I advertise for them with it.
It also gets me noticed in traffic which helps with safety for myself. If I am noticed then the other driver most likely will not hit me. Ken Finch |
