I just want to share with all of you on what type of success I have hade with adding
Studs to the scooter tires . I was not able to find any studded tires on the internet in the sizes that I need ( 16`` x 2.5`` ) for my GIO Luyuan .SO what I did was I used ....self drilling machine head Robinson screws . 3/8`` close to center and ½`` on the outer side of the tire . I also found that the ½`` is a little to aggressive so I will stick with the 3/8 from now on . I also installed a used tube that I cut open to use as a liner to protect the Inner tube from the screw heads . I also used a cordless screwdriver and they went in like nothing . I also ordered front and rear wheels complete , tire, tube and rim with motor so that I do not have to replace the tire every time there is a season change .I just change both wheels. I will post a couple pictures on Jim`s forum if any one is interested . http://web.me.com/the... Denis |

Great, but studded tires are illegal on Ontario roads.

Hello Bryan
Studded tires became legal two years ago in Ontario . The only thing is that there is a time line that they are permitted and I think that they must be removed by May 1st .Don`t quote me about the exact date but I think that it is May 1st . Studded tire can be purchased at any tire outlet . The only thing is that if you where to buy studdable tires you can only stud them when they are brand new and have never seen the road because the holes that the studs go into will get contaminated with small rocks that will prevent the stud from seating properly . I added a couple of pixs to my profile so that you can see how
I made out with the tire studding . Denis |

Well one last 15.3km ride to work for me, then my Condor will be stowed away in our store warehouse till spring. I just hope the roads are plowed.

) to ride today. Let us know the details of your ride, and please arrive safely.Eric |

Geeesyuzguyz... 5pm Wednesday and I just popped outside and stood at the corner. Counted seven bikes pass by in five minutes... Lotza folks still wheelin' away...
Got an early Christmas gift package today from Texas, full of bits and pieces like: (OK, not the cells or BMS yet, but those plastic snap-together building blocks and bags of lock washers and nuts and plastic end caps and copper straps and sense wire terminations and a charger...) Cells and BMS in a separate package means two smaller parcels that are cheaper to ship and less likely to catch the attention of revenue agents (wink wink) This is the first winter that many of the folks in the online forums are experiencing LiFePO4 in places like Winnipeg and the Ottawa Valley... riding in down to minus 30C temps. So it is interesting to read about their experiences with how these cells perform in temps well below what Toronto experiences for most of our comparatively mild winters. Here is a graph from one LiFePO4 manufacturer that shows cold weather performance for their particular cells: ...so the point would be for folks that intend to ride with cold cells, to either insulate and warm them, or install enough capacity to allow for the reduced range in cold weather... Ken, I just have to say that you are one brave fellow (or maybe crazy Well I did ride to work today. Left home at 7:00am arrived and parked my Condor in our stores warehouse at around 8:17am. The ride was not really that bad. Just my side roads were not plowed and a lot of front and rear wheel slides, but nothing I could not handle. Just pressed the green button for a slower speed but more torque. Then once I got to the main roads Ellesmere Road and Victoria Park Road were plowed and the ride was fine from there on. But I did get soaked to the bone and half frozen from the wetness. A lot of 4X4s and cars passed me and intentionally hit the wet slush in between the lanes which soaked me and my Condor more with water and ice. But I stuck it out and got to work safely. Tonight I came home via TTC and my E-Bike is fully charged and resting in a nice warm warehouse. I also put it on our hoist and cleaned off all the water and grime from the fairings, frame and wheels making sure the E-Bike is all cleaned up from that ride this morning. I had thought about you being sprayed with slush by cars passing you. My car got completely covered and sprayed by these people that have no concept of driving in winter weather conditions. So many went blasting past me, spraying everyone they passed with slush only to have to hit the brakes and slide when they got to a red light.
