Well I was glad I left my E-Bike in the warehouse last night because it was very cold today and very icy. I guess my Condor is parked till warmer weather prevails. But I did ride it between our warehouse and the retail store and back to get some needed parts for a Mobility Scooter repair. But to and from work will be TTC only.

I also stored my ebike after the snow the other day. But now the weather seems nice again so I'm back to riding. Just wondering if anyone else is doing the same.

Well last night I also rode my Condor home from the warehouse as well, it was nice enough out last night.

I just want to share with all of you on what type of success I have hade with adding You planning to ride all winter long? How are you dealing with the cold temps that go below -5? |

I know I should get my pedal bike out there, only problem is I can't seem to get past the idea of riding in colder temps. Maybe I should look for some nubby cyclocross tires for my Kona Dew Deluxe and just try it one day? |

Hello Outcastland
Yes I do ride all winter long .Always did but I always rode with studded tires . Studded tires are relatively easy to find in the 26`` sizes but do not exist for these scooters yet .I find that funny because often the Chinese have things invented and available with no real market .So it was either stud them myself or put the scooter away for the winter .So I have 2 bikes now The GIO 500 studded for the winter and the GIO 500+ for the summer .I will be looking at doing a shunt modification on the 500 and once the batteries are pooched on either bike I will convert to Lithium’s .It was -22 C last night and I was out zipping around on it . Big sweater ,winter coat and a full face Ski-Doo helmet with shield .I`m lucky in the sense that I have a large heated work shop attached to the house and just ride the bike right into the house .It is very important to totally dry the bike out after every use .I`ve been doing this for over 15 year now with no trouble . Hello Outcastland Very cool. I keep my bike inside too but was worried about the bike having enough juice for my trip to work. Lead acid batteries lose a fair bit of their charge in cold temps. They suggest -5 as the max but I am guessing that's not really the max? Do you find much battery charge loss in -22C? |

Well I am still riding my Condor back and forth to work these days. 15.4km each way. My batteries do lose a bit of range. But because they are dual batteries the extra capacity makes up for the loss from the cold so I can still easily ride the distance to or from work and I always recharge when I arrive at my destination. As long as no snow or salt is on the roads I will keep riding no matter how cold it gets. -11 out, no problem just make sure my gloves, boots, balaclava, coat and full face helmet is on properly and the batteries are charged and off I go.

Wow! Ken you are one tough character. I thought I was pushing things when I was riding in +2 temperatures. Ever since they salted the roads last week I have not taken the bike out. There are still a lot of areas where there is loose salt and gravel, so I have not risked it. Stay warm, and keep riding.
