This is getting very close to the alarm system I plan for my next scooter:
http://www.ilasecurit... "Ila Dusk: A new personal alarm that emits a piercing, high decibel female scream designed to shock and disorientate an attacker - giving you precious seconds to get away. It's a discreet stylish accessory that can be kept close at hand. Designed by ila Security - helping women feel safer through stylish technology" Just saw one of these in a store retailing for $40 and the sales clerk let me "fire it off"... Pretty loud! Works simply by pulling chain/pin out. Stops when pin re-inserted. EVentually I'll just scavange its components to wire it up to a trigger like a trembler switch/whatever but in the short term it'll be fun to mount this inside the scoot with a thin ("invisible") line to one tire. Try rolling the scoot and the wheel movement pulls the line/pin and trips the alarm... ![]() tks Lock |

Just looking at watt state-of-the-art looks like these daze... specifically the rLiNK SR-i1100 from Aritronix, LTD:
http://www.rlink.com/... little black boxes look like this: ![]() ...and interface looks like this: ![]() About the little black boxes: The heart of your rLiNK connection. Tracking and recovery are just the beginning of the security features for the rLiNK system. rLiNK integrates RFID technology for hands free alarm operation and a three-axis accelerometer to detect movement, shock and tilt. The included three-stage, programmable perimeter sensor protects luggage and external accessories. Two way communication with unlimited range and Police accessible theft tracking keep you connected to your motorcycle at all times. Amazing! Their product overview: rLiNK’s revolutionary technology keeps you in touch with your motorcycle AND your motorcycling friends. By expanding on our leading edge Scorpio alarm system, rLiNK let’s you monitor, control, track and share your motorcycle adventures. Monitor and control, your alarm functions from anywhere utilizing your my.rlink.com account or your smart phone application. You can also receive notifications and even track your bike if it is moved. Amazing prices too! ...$550 for the black boxes, plus $11.95/month for a data plan in Canada... And an actual audible siren is an optional extra for another $60 to buy, and another optional bit to electrically disable/enable the bike adds another $30...Phew... Still, might be worth it to some ebike riders esp. if parking in high risk areas. Don't think the local bike thieving population has figured out ebikes yet, but once they understand lithium packs (retail prices) we might be seeing more of these just snipped off parked ebikes... or just scoop the whole bike for disassembly somewhere peaceful elsewhere: At least some of the cost could be charged off to peace of mind, offset the need for a GPS or speedo etc system... and amusing your friends with neat 3G phone tricks!
