That's a beautiful picture Bill. I'll probably spend a few days in Niagara. Do you know any reasonably priced motels I could stay at? Only for the night. I've been there a few times with family over the years. But only for a few hours. I want to speed some time there and see everything I can. Plus I haven't had an actual vacation in maybe 3 or 4 years now.

In case anyone is was wondering what inspired me to go by bike check out this persons story http://littlesvr.ca/m... It's a great read with some good tips if anyone else wants to try a trip like this.

That is great plan, but be carefull as that is really looooong way from Toronto to Niagara. I have a friend which went down that route using race bike and he said that it was extremelly challenging for him.
Note that e-Bike (one like you want to purchase) is quite heavy with batteries and motor and tires are usually not such to achieve minimal resistance, so it will be much more difficult once batteries are out to ride it without power (compared to the race bike). I have similar bike and I can feel the difference although I changed tires to minimize resistance (I have 1000w/ 48v LiIon e-Bike which I converted from a regular mountin bike)
Maybe you could consider riding from Niagara On The Lake to the Falls and use batteries uphill and try how difficult would it be to go from the falls back to the lake... (I would rather do that if I were you)...if it turns out to be managable, I would do it from Toronto... I believe that route would be in ballpark of 45-50km while ride from Toronto is around 130km...
Anyways.. don't want to discourage you, just to provide you some info and differnt point of view - whatever you decide - good luck and enjoy it!

I got the bike yesterday. Had a few problems but they're all fixed now. I tested the bike. I have to pedal a bit on steep hills but I was expecting that.

Here are the (real) specs of the motor:

It goes very slow unless you pedal. It's pedalic bicycle.

I believe it's a geared hub motor. Because I can feel the gears changing sometimes.

200 Watts with 400 Watt MAX 36 Volts

The bike is a little heavy with the battery but it's not at all hard to pedal without help on flats. Well after I inflated the tires to the right pressure anywaybiggrin.

I know it's a long route. I decided to use the waterfront trails both ways. It's pretty flat in most places so I can pedal a fair distance before turning on the power. I don't expect it to be easy. That would take the fun out of it for me biggrin

Vic... One thing you can do in advance of the trip is spend some days on long trips around town... practice up! Once upon a time I pedaled a (non-power-assist) bike from Halifax to Kingston in seven daze... Best day, covered 160 MILES. ...But to do this I spend weekends in advance cycling around Nova Scotia... trips of 100 miles or more each day. EVen then, on Day Three of the long trip, I noticed my feet were going numb. Turned out that the leg muscles were growing so fast my shorts were cutting off blood circulation!
We tend to think of evolution and adaption as taking millennia, but the truth is it happens in *days*!
Cheers

LOL. It seems you keep reading my mind Lock. I did a little training run today. Etobicoke to Oakville and back about 50KM. Took me 5 hours in total. I tried the Waterfront trail, it's beautiful. Unfortunately it's not very clearly marked. At one point I went in a circle back to the same park. Also in some places it was closed for reconstruction. I used very little power the first 2 hours. On the way home I used it maybe 50 to 60% of the time. It was getting dark and I wanted to get home fast. The drivers in Oakville were scaring me, lol.

Tomorrow I'm going to try from my house to Ajax and back. That's about 110KM in total. If I manage to find some zip ties tonight. I'll pull the computer off my mountain bike and attach it to my power assist bike. I have a GPS but it eats batteries too fast. But it worked long enough to let me know that my average speed while pedaling is 12KPH. I want to try and bring that up to 15KPH. It might not seem like much. But if you do the math, that's 2 hours difference!
