Being that most of the better Ebikes start at $2,000, I was wondering how much better the EMMO would be than the GEO. There are two types of China ebike suppliers... the ones that specialize only in selling/assembling ebikes (maybe gas two-wheelers too) and the ones that make barbeques or wire brushes or thermos's or frying pans but also will assemble you containers-full of "ebikes" if you ask/pay for... EMMO appears to be selling the Nicom "TDR48K15"... Nicom has been exclusively focused as an electric bike mfgr for decades now which is kinda "legit" while the rest of the EMMO offerings I can't place... Maybe the guy/gal behind EMMO has added the TDR to his/her product mix as "differentiation" while the rest of it is... of questionable quality... eg from a China BBQ manufacturer... When I first got curious about China-made ebikes I discovered Yongkang... a city with a pop. about 1/2 mill with over 300 companies all offering "ebikes" for sale. For hundreds of years Chinas "Hardware Capital" but also Chinas' capital for amputations from industrial accidents... Yongkang being only 20 miles down the road from Nicom in Jinhua... Guess I could go on and on about your question. Suffice to say, expect some Canadian importers/retailers will succumb to the cheapest cost and pass it on to you... loCk |

I saw that Advert also and if it comes with the girl I want one.
I didn't see anything wrong with the Advert. What part did you see as wrong? |

There's some much wrong with this ad that I don't even know where to start. Read it yourselves. Hehe...should have a disclaimer "May not be exactly as illustrated"... the ebike(?) in the pic with the woman isn't one of the current Gio product offerings... but everything else about the ad screams "Gio"... I follow Craig's List daily and what I've noticed is almost everyday you have 2 to 3 (sometimes more) E-Scooters for sale. Some Adverts shouldn't even be there because CL is for consumers not Dealers. Still see a lot of E-Scooter adverts that stretch the specs quite a bit and most say how happy the owners are with their E-Scooter but then if they are so happy why sell it?
Oh and one Advert said Brand New and when you read the Advert it says the guy rode it for a year. Guess Brand New has a different meaning for him? You also get Adverts like: I paid $2400.00 last year and my selling price is $850.00 and I'm thinking if this is such a wonderful product in pristine condition why is it being sold for such a massive $$ loss? Most common Advert I've seen is a person offering their E-Scooter because they claim it needs new batteries and I'm wondering if they sell their Car when it needs an Oil Change? |

I saw that Advert also and if it comes with the girl I want one. Well, ok. Your right. Nothing would be wrong if you had made the law I do agree with the speed issue. Now for what I THINK is wrong: Faster than a regular bike! Can go up to 45 km/hr on some models. Really? Max is 32! Can be driven all year round. You can, but there should be a disclaimer of some sort here. Models range from 350/500W to 800w brushless hub motor and 48V power supply 800W very misleading. it's 500W with an 800w peak And as Lock pointed out if seems very much like a Gio ad. But the bike beside the girl looks a lot like a Veloteq. -Vic |

I saw that Advert also and if it comes with the girl I want one. Nowhere on the Gio site do they claim any models as faster than 32kmh... Perhaps the local seller is offering scooter-style ebikes from other manufacturers? (doubtful) But do the math re the claim of up to two hours of run time per charge. The "larger" 500W+ Gio has a 48V 20Ah pack... if ya run this down to 20% SOC that's a net available capacity of 768Wh, so spread over two hours the vehicle would have to consume on average only 384W... This sort of promised range will only happen with no stops, at slow speeds (slower than 32kph), no hills or headwinds, no slush, smooth pavements, tires pumped to the max and fresh batteries... My experience on a scoot that weighs only 60lbs and using lots of muscle power has been about 256W average AT BEST... in real-world conditions of hills and stop-and-go and average trip speeds of only 15kmh so about 17Wh/km The much heavier Gio using zero pedal power and at faster average speeds would use a LOT more Wh/km than I use... At twice the Wh/km I get, the Gio might get 1.5hrs of run time, but I think that's pretty optimistic. I would love to hear from some of the scooter-style ebike riders here watt sort of range they get expressed as Wh/km. tks Lock |

Lock,
I'm not sure how you do that math. But I can give you numbers . Maybe you can figure it that way.My battery is 48V 20AH LifePO4 (with an over zealous bms so "usable" AH is probably closer to 16 or 17AH) I know that kind of sucks but I figure the battery will last longer this way. Fair trade off in my opinion. I'm not sure what the peak on my motor is but it's labeled 380W continuous. I can travel 55 to 60KM on one charge. I'll give the math a try to see if I understand it right. But if I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I have to learn somehow All I know it volts X amps = watts48V x 20AH= 960 W 960W / 380W = 2.5 Hours 2.5 hours X 30KM (my max speed according to gps)= 75KM range in theory if I WAS using all the AH. So if I did this right. That means my BMS cuts my available range by 20%. So I can only use 16AH. That's still good compared to lead! -Vic |

Maybe you can figure it that way. `Kay, so same size pack as the Gio at 48V 20Ah but LiFePo4... Ya use 48x20=960Wh but don't forget to "derate" to useable Ah... You say only 16-17 and I agree w/you this is a fair trade for long life, but lets stay with 17Ah at 48V so 816Wh... which you say is good for 55-60km... Say 55km so that'd be 14.84Wh/km... And this is for your scooter-style ebike, with no pedaling? Not too shabby! Do your regular travels have many stop and goes and hills? How many times have you cycled your batt pack so far? The Gio with a 48V x 20Ah pack at say 80% useable so 768Wh if it ran at 14.84Wh/km would have a range of 51.75km... I'm still gonna guess that your kms are mostly exurbia with lots of non-stopping... loCk |

I'm not sure what the peak on my motor is but it's labeled 380W continuous.BTW Vic, it really ain't about the label on the motor, but about the *controller*... how much IT can "deliver", and having said this, really how much you *demand* of IT (the controller... The motors are pretty forgiving. The electronics, not so much. Lock |
