Maybe you can figure it that way. Yes it was my scooter style bike. I could try pedaling but it would look ridiculous, lol. I did my range tests for this scooter on a fairly flat stretch of road. Between Wilson Ave and Oakdale Rd (Where Daymak is located, lol). I lived in that area at the time. It took me close to 3 hours to run the battery down. This is where the 60KM figure came from. I did ride it from home to work and back a few times without charging. That was a total of about 42KM. This was up and down Royal York Rd from Weston Rd to the Queensways. There are hills and you have to stop behind TTC buses often. But it still felt like I had a lot of power left. Nice thing about lithium no power sags . I'm not sure how many cycles I've put on the pack. I got it at the end of last August. I've only let it get fully depleted 4 or 5 times. Usually it only takes 2 hours to charge unless it's fully depleted then it takes 4 hours. I have a 5A charger. I've seen 8A chargers for LifePO4 but they look like monsters. They're huge. Here's the stretch of road I used for range testing at the time: http://maps.google.ca... -Vic |

Just had to check in with the Gio auctions again... from today: With Daymak closing two locations and comment that maybe ebike sales volumes haven't been as high as expected, thought I'd update the "Gio Index"... Can't say this is representative of the industry as a whole of course, but from yesterday: 18 vehicles sold in 21hrs 45mins... at this rate 10,585 in one year. Two "real" 500W ebikes at $522.50 average, the other sixteen 350W averaging $256.13 each. Eighteen different buyer names... tks lOcK |

I wouldn't go for a 350W motor even for free :) If it makes sense to get them, that would be just only for batteries :)

Another ad posted yesterday "Electric scooter– $650"
http://www.buysell.co... Not a lot of info in this ad... but the phone number ties back to Gio auction buyer "Ashaley" from Sinclair's Motorsports in Surrey, BC. (while yesterdaze buysell.com ad was posted as a Windsor, ON ad): http://sr.buysell.com... Interesting that Sinclair/Ashaley have now dropped all references to the Gio name. In the buysell ad the maker is now listed only as Luyuan while on the Sinclair site the "500W" Gios are described as "HD" and only the "800W" Gios are described as "Layuan"... Yesterdaze ad also describes the vehicle as "used" so presumably the $650 price now includes HST Edited by Vic on Oct 23, 2010 8:13 AM |

Sorry guys but i did buy a GIO 2 months ago and I love the thing.........NO PROBLEMS at all with it and i have spent a great deal of time comparing it against other Ebike brands in the $790-$1100 range and there are no differences, except this one is $400 less.
I purchased another one for a friend just last night and I am buying a second one for myself come January. You cant beat the price. The ONLY negative I would suggest about this bike is that if you are a bigger person, 200 pounds + you are going to have a bit of a problem going up hills. I who am of average weight can get up the Poplar Plains Road hill on mine but my X Hubby who is a big guy can get up it but the last part of it he does have to sort of push it a bit with his feet. For him, hes really better with the 800w Gio and I think we will buy one come January. But living in an apartment, the smaller Gio is easy to get in the elevator and into the apartment. The bigger one, I have seen and i am not sure it will fit. I would likely have to take out a parking spot for it in the garage. In any event? I think this bike has a bad rap........I was very nervous buying it but thought at worst I was throwing away only $630 which is what it cost me to my door in Toronto 2 months ago. Cant beat it....... It gets me everywhere i need to go and i havent had any problems with it. |

Another new seller in the Gio game... domain name resistered October 19, 2010:
http://www.e-bikecana... from their home page: 500watt e-bike ![]() I wonder where they are getting their legal advice? ![]() Right now, you can buy a $400 350W Gio from them for only $600! From their web site This bikes retails for over $1099.99. Watt a deal! Also these must be special Gios... new, improved! Engine is powered by 4 large high power batteries that will last for over 3 years or around 500 recharge times. Scooter can also travel up to 60kms on a single charge. locK |
