A2B Stolen today...
by spudlaunch » Tue May 11, 2010 8:07 pm Sigh... my first post to ES, and it's that my new, black A2B Metro was stolen today in Toronto, Ontario. I'm posting in case anyone sees one for sale cheap, or runs across any of the parts in their travels. It's a long shot, but I'll post a couple of the serial numbers. Chassis: F001F0041 Battery: SATDAB9080692 Motor: UM0920207 Police report filed. Insurance... we'll see... Thanks to all. I look forward to chatting about more positive eBike developments soon. |

Yah... I've asked about watt part of town it was taken in... ya don't believe this'll get dumped in the Lake do you???
![]() Hard to believe any thief would be riding this around either. Pretty distinctive, but then I guess 99.999% of Toronto wouldn't recognize it... (so I added the pic here!) L |

That picture might be a little hard for someone that's never seen one before. Here some more pics and a video. Should make it a little easier

Bit more info from the guy that had his bike stolen:
Thanks. It was downtown, at the CBC - Wellington & John. Security folks are going over the tapes (there was a camera nearby). It's such a distinctive bike, I'm hoping someone will notice it. Fingers crossed. I actually rode it in to work this morning on the Goodman/Harbourfront trail. It's so dumb - I just got the bike days ago - and I had a kryptonite lock that was too small, so I used it as a temporary padlock on a kryptonite cable. I was literally on my way to by a larger u-lock at Urbane Cylclist after work when I saw the cut cable lying beside the bike rack (my bike, conspicuously absent...). Needless to say, lesson learned. |

Geeesus Joshua... the stories you have to tell...
That's a thing I've always appreciated about the tiny scoots. Never carried a lock. Used to wheel it into Loblaws and up and down the isles with shopping backets on the deck, rather than lock it up outside. Wheel it into client offices and park it in an office to charge. Parked it unlocked for three hours once in the main lobby of the Royal Bank Tower down town, "hidden" behind a potted plant... Smuggled it onto Island ferries in a shoulder bag for a couple of years. Parked it behind my chair on restaurant patios... Flew with me as luggage. Hate to think now about having to lock up a scoot on the street somewhere, walking away wondering if it'll be damaged or gone when I get back... Guess many of the scooter-style ebikes come with alarm systems these daze. Dunno how well they work or don't work, `cept the expensive state-of-the-art ones seem fairly... errr... bullet-proof http://www.ebikerider... Lock |

Anyone know where one could test drive/purchase one of these Metro A2B's in the Toronto area?
Not spudlaunch's bike, but a new one! |

Anyone know where one could test drive/purchase one of these Metro A2B's in the Toronto area? Errrrm... Burlington? http://www.vespaburli... Comprehensive evaluation by an experienced ebiker from New Brunswick here: http://endless-sphere... Ya might gasp at the price, but this is investment grade... Quite a difference ebike experience than the scooter-style ebike, and (I suspect) much better resale value down the road... you know, if it ain't stolen... ![]() Lock |

sorry to hear about your misfortune. I came across this ad on Kijiji and thought about buying it but I want to make sure it's not your bike.
