Well, I bought a brand new ebike at the time. It was advertised on CITY News infact. Went down to Thornhill to pick it up. (I'm just outside of Guelph). Had it for about 2 weeks and had a very bad accident with it. I took the side roads to avoid heavy traffic and trned on a street that had a hill. Upon turning I lost both steering and brakes. I was gaining speed so I started to drag my feet on the road to see if I could slow down. It wasn't working whatsoever. I ended up hitting a pothole which caved in the front tire, I went airborne and before landing on the road I put my arms up infront of my face. Upon impact I broke both arms, my left finger and I had a huge gash above my right eye from my right hinge of my glasses. I sued the ebike company and the township. During the lawsuit, a forensic examiner was used to determine if the ebike was fit for sale, which it turned out not to be afterall. Soon after the ebike company received the legal documents they folded up and left town never to be seen again. I settled with the township.
It is now 2010 and i bought another ebike. This is my first one since the accident in 2004. I love this one so far. Already have about 60 kms on it so far. (Came with 200 -bought it used). I can definately say I missed having one. |

At the time< the vendore did supply a printout of the law incase I got pulled over by the police, so back then it was I guess the starting point of the ebike project. This was around Sept 2004.
Totally sucks about your friend though. |
