Just curious when did Nova Scotia become part of Toronto?
Has this Group expanded its borders to include the rest of Canada? |

The group is open to anyone with an ebike or that would like to contribute to the forum. We have members from Ottawa and other parts of Ontario too. So even other provinces are welcome.

Well, that’s quite a welcome! I was hoping to find a supportive, open group, “A group for all e-bike owners” to learn from and contribute to.
Toronto is leading in the charge for greater acceptance of our common transportation choice. Those of us geographic outsiders want to learn from your experiences and share our own. Group acceptance of outsiders will lead to greater acceptance of e-bikes outside the GTA, through shared legal and practical experiences. Greater acceptance of e-bikes around the country can, I believe, only help all of us in the long run. You are correct that I cannot physically meet up and have nothing to offer the group if it is dedicated to purely local matters. However, e-biking is not strictly a local issue. If Joshua’s opinion represents the feelings of the group, I will withdraw my membership. If this occurs, I suggest the group amend its description stating that members need not be from Toronto to join. I await the tribe’s decision. Rick. |

Rick,
Joshua can get very grumpy without his coffee. You're more that welcome here. And that was a very good post. -Vic |

Well, this member of the tribe has no problem with riders from outside the GTA belonging to the group. I do live in Toronto, but also "belong to" the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Meetup group and monitor the Durham e-Bike Assocaition site and have learned something from both of them.

Rick... don't go
![]() I spend part of my life as a "Bluenoser"... used to sail to the Bedford YC looking for Lexi Dickinson (although we were from the wrong side of the tracks aka Rockingham YC)... Any Dickinsons still on Shore Drive? But I digress ![]() Joshua... I have signed up to ebikeriders but also the Endless Sphere, and before that the Zappy Yeehaw group... Power-Assist also. And the ebike industry in Manitoba and in the UK via LinkedIn... and "Ottawa" via the EVCO mailing list... and the EVDL... and Durham County, and, and, and... I value input from other/all jurisdictions... Most of the time the tech is the same and only the legislations are different. My hope and expectation is that we can learn from each other. My "problems" with EVs aren't technical but instead social and political, and I believe this crosses most boundaries... Lock Edited by lOCk on Jun 23, 2010 3:23 PM |

Joshua,
You're right, there's a polling feature. Although I don't feel it's necessary to do one for this. Also the membership numbers are not accurate. Some people haven't visited in months. We're going to see what we can do about that. Keep in mind the tools we have at hand on this site are very limited. Which makes validation extremely difficult. Although the group is for ebikes, scooter style ebikes, and escooters. I believe there is one member here with a gas scooter. Like I said before everyone is welcome. |

Joshua I value your opinion. But Aimee has decided to let all PABs (Power Assisted Bicycles) or E-Bikes (both styles). I see your opinion is against it and that is fine. But the rest of the members of this group support Aimee in her decisions and so do I. If you do not want to support this group in these decisions that is fine, as a Meetup group member you always have the Delete Membership Option. But you have had your say about E-Bike bicycle style vs E-Scooter style and we have all read them and digested them. We may not agree with you but you have a right to voice your opinion as long as it does not become redundant in nature. I was a member of another Meetup group for gas scooters. The then current organizer of that group wanted to include E-Scooters in the club and made me an assistant organizer to try and accomplish that. We grew in E-Scooter members till about the 20 member count. Then a very small but very vocal and anti E-Bike group of members created so much arguments and trouble within the group regarding E-Bikes that I ended up deleting my membership to that group. I do not want that to happen here as well. So as far as this group goes all E-Bike Riders are welcome whether they ride a scooter or a bicycle style E-Bike. In fact some members do not even own E-Bikes but are interested in E-Bikes and support them they are welcome as well. And it does not matter where in the world they live as well. Unless Aimee says otherwise that is how this group is take it or leave it. Thanks again.

Joshua Aimee is not dictating anything. She created this group and is PAYING the fees to keep it open as well. She just wants the group to grow and be open to as many E-Bike riders and enthusiasts as much as possible. But in this thread you have been chastising the club for doing that. Mentioning it as an opinion is one thing, but going on and on about it is becoming condemming and that will have to be moderated if needed. We know you do not like the mix of E-Bike styles. Like you said maybe you should go and create your own group and pay the fees and put in the time to create it and manage it. This group has always grown and is growing so the only problem seems to be in your own eyes. Please stop condeming this club and start chatting normally and become a good standing member instead of starting trouble please. Joshua you have given good advice up to now with all the topics why the sudden change to try and change the group to your own liking. I know you ride a custom bicycle style E-Bike, and you dislike scooter style E-bikes. But debate unbiased and keep the insults to yourself (eg. E-Scooter riders are disabled). You can voice your opinions but keep them short and to the betterment of the group. Remember all the other members view all styles of E-Bikes as equal and so does this group. We will not segragate one style from the other just because one member says to. Only a large majority of requests will the change occur.
