...not to mention the 30km range as apposed to the advertised 50/60 km. But you mentioned it anyway ![]() The thing is, if ya look at average Toronto temps, for example the historical numbers at Environment Canadas Malvern station: http://www.climate.we... ...for the last two months the average temps have been 13.4 then 18°C... July, August and September will stay warm-ish averaging 21.5, 20.3 and 15.6°C. But if you are still riding through October and November average temps drop to 9 then 3.59°C and this will shorten your range on a lead acid pack further Specs for lead acid batts and ranges for ebikes with SLA packs are based on the lead being at 20°C. keep your SLA indoors and on a Charger right up till you exit and keep the pack wrapped in pink fiberglass insulation with foil one side. This keeps the SLA warm while riding and you won't see a loss of energy.
I used to do my little 16 mile round trip commute all year (52 weeks) and I loved riding downtown in minus 40 C Windchills (seldom saw another cyclist on the bike lanes). I wonder if you can get metal studded winter tires for E-Scooters? A Windshield would be a must have in Winter. |

EVen with some insulation this lead WILL cool down over eight hrs or so. (Can't be good for battery life leaving the batts partially discharged eight hrs a day either!) lLö cK |

Actually just had a peek at the Power-sonic specs for example... Not as bad as I thought. Not sure all SLAs are as good:

I used to have a Knapsack with wee small wheels and a telescopic handle. I'd get to Ryerson Univ. and transfer the SLA to the Knapsack and wheel it to an outlet to plug it in.
That would make a good Poll Question here: How Many E-Scooter Dealers told customers they needed to get their SLA Packs onto a Charger within 4 hours or they'd reduce the Life of their SLA batteries? AGM batteries can be ignored up to 72 hours after use but SLA need to get on a charger ASAP after each use. Reason I wondered was I still get lots of SLA users telling me Dealers never informed them and their SLA packs died below 100 Cycles. Winters are a SLA Killer, you need to keep the batteries indoors and top them up every 30 days or after 6 months of sitting idle they will have lost 25% capacity (1/4 of their Life is lost). SLA Batteries are only good for a maximum of 300 Cycles even if well cared for. You see these Specs saying 500 to 600 Cycles and that is just wishful thinking AKA Marketing BS. Only way to get 300 Cycles is do 300 Shallow Discharges = 20% Discharges. |

http://www.emmo.ca...Hi Feng! That's quite a claim... considering the emmo.ca web site was registered only about eight months ago So you are a happy customer of emmo? I see emmo has the same concerns as BlueAvenue... Ya have to bring their products back after a couple of weeks `cause there'll be bolts etc coming loose? If I were in the biz I would go over my vehicles and tighten and Locktite every nut and bolt BEFORE sale... you know, if I were selling product where this was a known problem (which I wouldn't) ![]() Cheers LocK |

I find this interesting and frightening at the same time.
A 25% Restocking fee if the E-Scooter has been Ridden or Used and the E-Scooter must be in an Unused condition. So you pay $1,200.00 and a few days later return it and Emmo keeps $300.00 but they keep all $1,200.00 if you let the E-Scooter wheels touch the pavement. I would think that a person would decide to return the E-Scooter only after having taken the E-Scooter for at least one ride but that one ride just cost you the E-Scooter with no refund. You could have a good business with e-scooters that fall apart after the first ride and the buyer loses 100% of the e-scooter price. Maybe buy up used SLA on thier last few Cycles and when the E-Scooter is returned no refund because the tires show the Scooter touched the pavement. WOW (Copyright Credit to Emmo Website) Return & Exchange policy Products bought from EMMO can be returned within 7 Days in new and unused condition only. Customer must pay return shipping plus 25% restocking fee. The cost of the item minus the restocking fee is refunded once the product has been returned and is determined to be in new and unused condition. If the product has been used, ridden, or damaged while in the possession of the customer, the product cannot be exchanged or returned for future credit, unless authorized by EMMO Inc. at a lower value than the purchase price. |
