Quick unscientific survey googling the words "canada restocking charge xx%" where xx is:
10% 47,400,000 hits 15% 3,080,000 20% 2,780,000 25% 996,000 It suggests that 25% is at the very highest end of restocking charges... just less than 2% of all the hits... with 10% seemingly far more common... Perhaps the last sentence "... the product cannot be exchanged or returned for future credit, unless authorized by EMMO Inc. at a lower value than the purchase price." is an opening for emmo to be more fair and reasonable in most cases and not apply the full 25% as agreed to... My own policy from 2002 to 2009 was to take back any hub motor kit I sold up to One Year and exchange it for a new version (if) the Recumbent owner changed his bike or trike and the Hub Motor was no longer suited for the new bike/trike. The used motor kit then went free to anyone on a fixed income who could not afford a new motor kit. Improves ones Karma and gawd knows I needed Karma improvement.

Surprised no one posted the web info for Veloteq ebikes on here? Got to be brand loyal, especially as I absolutely adore my Veloteq ebike:
The company's primary website: http://www.veloteq.co... The vendor in Toronto where I bought my ebike (Veloteq Toronto-east): http://www.smartscoot... (Not sure if there is a Veloteq Toronto-West dealer?) |

On the Veloteq website there is a list of Veloteq Retailers in Ontario. There is one in Scarborough, Mississauga, Downtown Toronto, Dundas Ontario, Midland, Ottawa, Kingston, London and Windsor.
A small but faithful following. After sales service is top notch. |

Here's another ebike dealer... CC just gave them a mention:
http://www.ebikerider... ...and that's Bay Cycle and Sports in Pickering: http://baycyclesports... ebikes and conversion kits... Gotta say though, their current selection of ebikes look a little underpowered at 250W-350W. Only the kits offered are 500W. Bikes and kits both offered with smaller-ish Wh-size packs... I'm gonna guess that Bay Cycle believes EVerybuddy should be pedaling and the electrics are really only for assist... Tks Lock |

There's a Vancouver-based company offering urban and mountain "pedal-bike style" ebikes, OHM Cycles, Ltd:
http://ohmcycles.com/... They're using the Bionx system, so 350W peak 700W... Oddly while they have dealers in many provinces and in the states, none in Ontario yet... Closest would be Urban Motion in Montreal: http://www.urbanmotio... I see Urban Motion is selling off two 2009 OHM XU500's for $1,895 right now: ![]() ...but only 28V 12Ah Lithium-ion, 250W Scooter-style ebike riders might find this Urban Motion offering of interest: ![]() TWO motors! 500W each, one front and one back, with one of them "on demand" for hill climbing (and showing off) If the quality is any good it's quite a deal at $1800... (60V 24Ah SLA) Tks Lock |

Urban Motion is where I bought my e-scooter over 3 years ago. These were fairly new in Ontario at that time and I stumbled across them thru e-Bay. Jean sold me a prototype bike at a very good price which is basically the Volare that Mobility Unlimited have or the Gatto from Daymak. After 3 seasons, I also recently bought 4 of these 24ah batteries from them to replace my tired ones. For both purchases, because I am out of province, there was no PST and so the shipping and no-PST was almost a wash compared to buying here.
Regarding these 24ah batteries, they are physically the same size as the 20ah ones, and I have no idea how they do that or if they even are actually 24ah. How can you tell? I can say so far they work great. This bike is the same frame as mine (I think). I am told the 2 x 500w motors is because of all the hills in Montreal. I am guessing that technically it's not legal in Ontario? Bottom line -- good dealer, but you would need to get local service elsewhere. |

Regarding these 24ah batteries, they are physically the same size as the 20ah ones, and I have no idea how they do that or if they even are actually 24ah. How can you tell? Physically the same volume but they would need to hold 20% more lead using thinner cases/separators... Otta at least be about 20% heavier... How to tell capacity? A 14.4W load (eg a LED light plus resistor) at nominal 12V would consume 1.2A per hour... or 24A over 20hrs until completely exhausted (SLA Ah ratings assume discharge at C/20 rate, or 1/20th of their Ah rating). Ya could measure voltage periodically and cut off the test at 10.5V... Lock |
