well i dont know what to do i just trying to make my bike better Define "better" exactly. Watt are your target distances and at watt speeds. Start by telling me watt range you are getting now on your regular routes and the size of your battery pack in volts and Ahs... with out going crazy/nuts my bike has 12ams lol this will not do / hills wind etc and i am a full grown man hehe Don't know "12ams" ... you mean 12Ahs? as in you have a pack made of four 12V batts in series for 48V but the batts are only 12Ah in size? The simplest upgrade would be to add a fifth 12Ah battery in series to up the voltage to 60V *IF* the controller can handle the higher volts. That *should* translate as a higher top speed but if it's hills and winds you are battling that is more a matter of Amps... Ya need a controller that can handle more Amps... and a battery pack that can deliver more Amps too. With more Amps you could fly up hills and into strong headwinds no problem, and will get half way to your destination in 1/2 the time... So you would need a "larger" battery pack not in terms of voltage but in Ahs. For example replacing four 12Ah batts with four 20Ah batts... Same system voltage as 48V but WATT-HOURS in this example goes from 576Wh to 960Wh, a 2/3 increase in stored energy. If ya "blow that off" over the same distances as higher Wh/km, that's 2/3 more power... and to handle this you would need to mod your controller or replace it with one that can handle more amps. Tell ya watt... If you go to the Golden Motors site, here: http://www.goldenmoto... ...and ya click on the menu option "Motor Controller", the way they talk about this controller it could even drive your livingroom couch around... In other words they talk like it should run the motor you already have, no problem. And they will sell you a sample one for $65 plus shipping... And it is *programmable*: ![]() ...so you can set speed and power limits etc... How high you set this stuff is up to you. Just depends on how fast you want to kill your battery pack or attract unwanted attention. Lock |

kool thank you this is a good start who can i get to do this kind of work and i think my bike is sill good at distance is not to bad so i think what you are saying is go to a 60 volt and maybe 30 to 40 amps or just 48 volt hhmm this seems like this will not be to hard and still be well in the speed 32 to say 45 clicks a hour this will be good but amps are key not what batts should i get and were to get them who do you trust. www.blueavenue.ca thay can make a 48v 40 amp for me what is is there using i have no idea. its not lead thats all i know.1200 to 900$ cost i dont know if it worth it but big pic cheaper than a car gas etc oh thank you for all the help

kool thank you this is a good start who can i get to do this kind of workSearch the messages here for "Steveo"... re blueavenue I just don't trust them because of the ebike product they have been selling so far. Perhaps they/he has changed their/his tune if they/he are/is offering LiFePO4 drop-in replacements now? Of course, ya *could* learn how to replace the controllers and battery packs for daymak scooters yourself and retire rich... it's up to you. ![]() Lock |

Vent Time
What really really pisses me off is the utterly huge selection of battery chemistries out there that while the chemistries are fairly sound the manufacturers cut corners to save a buck and Quality Control takes a hike. Once upon a time if you bought batteries made in China you were a moron and should expect poor quality but now all batteries are made in China and we have the expectation that what we buy are of excellent quality and seem shocked when the quality now is as bad as it was a decade ago. Then we can look at Japan as making a superior battery and then Sony does a Recall on 9.6 Million battery packs and 3 years later another 4 Million packs are in Recall. Right now Korea is on top of the battery food chain with LG-Chem/Kokam/A123 but no idea how long that dominance will last and their batts ain't at all cheap $ wise. Ni-CD which a few years ago made in Taiwan would last a Decade but just in the last 2 years the new Ni-CD are dying within months of being made. Ni-MH is almost a Dinosaur amoung batteries and their quality is going down. People ask me all the time (daily) what is good and where to get it and for almost a year the answer is I don't have a clue anymore. Valence makes a good Lifepo4 but their newest battery is still months away. LiFeBATT who I represent won't have their Cells till mid-September and they ain't low cost. Li Ping has been going through QA issues and is losing face. Headway in the last year have been going downhill fast, loss of capacity, bad BMS boards, crappy chargers. Panjit (using 15Ah Headway Cells) are finding 40% failure rates and have just cut Headway free. ECity Lifepo4 have been having BMS board failures and dreadful customer service. PSI is virtually dead in the water. Even Sanyo has been having capacity losses in their Li-MN Cells. Capacity Loss meaning a 10Ah Cell after a few cycles will not charge above 8.0 pr 8.5Ah and some will continue to lose capacity to 5.0Ah to 7.0Ah. Have seen Ni-CD drop from 8.0Ah to 5.0Ah within a few weeks. Beta Testing Nilar Ni-MH a few years ago and their 8.0Ah Ni-MH dropped to 4.0Ah after only 5 cycles. Thunder Sky buyers expect 4 of every 10 Cells to be DOA. That is a whopping 40% failure rate they consider acceptable. When people buy Li-Po Pouch Cells they expect 2 of every 8 cells to be Dead (0 Volts). People go on Alibaba or China Trade and get all excited by all the companies who you think are Manufacurers offering really low cost battery packs. Nearly all are actually small Trading Companies often just one or 2 people even though they claim they are Manufacturers. It is a mine field out there if you don't know what to look for. IF an offer sounds to good to be true it tends to be a bad offer. |
