Does anyone know what the actual model of the Emmo G550A scooter style ebike is?
I'm almost certain it's a Lu Yuan - it looks almost, but not entirely like the one seen here: http://en.luyuan.cn/p... ... though I think that's one of the other Emmo G Series bikes (G545, maybe?), and not quite the exact same model as the G550A. The shape of the rear of the bike, as well as the faring over the rear wheel hub seems to be slightly different in shape. If anyone has any insight into the actual origin of this bike, I'd love to hear it. |

Hi Gregory...
There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of China companies assembling ebikes. Like the auto industry most of the components are bought from other suppliers. Most ebike assemblers do make some component such as kickstands or motors or carbon brushes etc... Most of the little guys make mostly things like cooking pots and thermos' and wire brushes. So you can see a lot of "standard" components like plastic body parts used by different assemblers... The EMMO 545A which has a fairly unique look about it looks a lot like a Nicom product, and Nicom makes/assembles all sorts of styles of ebikes: http://nicom.en.aliba... Hard to tell apart Nicom stuff from Luyuan eh? So I'm gonna guess that EMMO is buying all their product from Nicom... Nicom/Luyuan et al will assemble for you anything you ask for, and beyond the legal requirements and other specs asked for buy the buyer, they will use wattever components they have around. Most are in industrial parks and are surrounded by other companies making all the other parts needed for any sort of style of ebike. Ya can't really worry too much about who exactly is making these things, but trust in the importer and seller that they are sourcing quality(?) product. The fact that folks like BlueAvenue and EMMO require that buyers return in two weeks to make sure all fastenings are still tight does not inspire confidence. Fun to note BTW that Nicom also offers a 800W version of the Emmo "545A"... which will be almost indistinguishable from the 500W version... Maybe Emmo could be talked into offering the 800W version as well. Of course, this would only be for offroad use (wink wink) so perfectly legal for Emmo to sell. Lock |
