Back in 2003 I was playing a little game called "What's Your Scooter Index?", seen here:

Simple rule actually:

Google on your hometown's name. Note the number of hits. Then google
on your town name plus the word scooter. Take that second number of
hits, multiply by 10,000, then divide by that first number.

That's your Scooter Index.

Thought I'd just update this a bit, and have replaced the word "scooter" with "ebike"... A search with Google ain't very scientific. It overlooks there are many cities called "London", and foreign words equivalent to "ebike" like the German word "elektrofahrrad" (but the word "ebike" is coming into common useage in many other languages) so here are some eBike Indices for some cities around the world:

Toronto......147,000 166,000,000 0.89
Paris..........964,000 554,000,000 1.74
Montreal....303,000 84,000,000 3.61
Vancouver..486,000 118,000,000 4.12
London.......826,000 633,000,000 1.30
Berlin.......2,560,000 291,000,000 8.80

Basically, Toronto "sucks" in the ebike world


But just about everywhere comes last to the little town of Yongkang in China, pop about 1/2 mil:
Yongkang..766,000 2,450,000 312.65

This is mostly because Yongkang has so many businesses selling ebikes that have web sites.

EVen Beijing only scores a 10.05...
