Hi fellow E-bike riders. I am still looking for a reasonably priced mountain e-bike ...from an Ontario dealer. I found Dragon E-Bikes...which carries the Strider ( about $1300 CAD)...which SOUNDS perfect.
Any suggestions, opinions or advice? I don't want a kit.....I just want to hit the trails! Thanks, C.C. |

I found Dragon E-Bikes...which carries the Strider ( about $1300 CAD)...which SOUNDS perfect. Hiya CC... had to look that up... Coldwater Ontario... Dragon and their Strider here: http://www.dragonebik... Gotta say, I'm not impressed when I read stuff like this: Drive train: 250W (continuous) Prothero™ series brushless, hi-speed geared motor coupled with our 36v 10Ah Critias™ series Lithium Battery provides cost-effective, reliable power. Compare to other bikes with 150 or 200W motors of lesser quality, and 24v batteries rated as low as 8Ah. OK. YES to Lithium (watt lithium chemistry exactly BTW?) but 250W is kinda pathetic... "Compare to other bikes with 150W or 200W..." WAAAA??? Where have these folks been shopping??? Nobuddy sells 150W or 200W in North America??? 100W gets across the Cdn border no questions asked... as a TOY. My first scooter came stock as 250W and in Week One I upgraded to 450W and the diff was like night and day... Also, Dragon (like a lot of ebike sellers) likes to make up special names for their "proprietary" battery... "special" motor... Put it this way... If ya want a "responsive" mountain-bike style ebike, $1300 is better than perfect, it's too good to be true... Too bad you will not consider adding a kit to a decent second-hand steel frame. It's a bit of a "no brainer"... For the same $1300 PLUS a decent 2nd-hand MTB ya could be riding 400W of geared lithium. No comparison... Lock |

Curious, Why is it that you don't want to use a kit? I know they seem a little intimidating but really they're not that difficult to install. -Vic |

Thank you for your advice everyone. Yes....I guess I've seen the error of my ways re: adding a kit. Am going to Bay Cycle in Pickering tomorrow. John- the owner there...was the most knowledgeable salesman I've spoken to yet,,,with the best Kit pricing. Will see what happens and let you know.
Thanks again, C.C. by Mono Cliffs Prov. Park |
