Let's say you have a scooter-style ebike with cheap, chinese made tires (Cheng Shin, for instance), and you want to replace them with higher quality European or American brand tires. In my particular case, I need 16.0" x 3.0" tires, though I've been told that fitting a slightly larger tire (say, 16.0" x 3.5") would probably still work.
What brand would you buy? Why? And where? Bonus points if I can get them from a store in Toronto instead of needing to have them shipped. |

Kennedy Road north of Lawrence? I have no idea how to decipher these tire sizes, but a quick phone call might do the trick...

Hmm, interesting. I emailed about a dozen scooter & ebike dealers in Toronto (everyone I could find) inquiring about what they had available, but didn't stumble across that one yet - they do seem to have more tires listed than most of the ones I saw, though.
According to this, http://www.wisegeek.c... Any thoughts on switching from tubed to tubeless tires? Why would (or wouldn't) you want to do this? Tubeless tires in 16"x3" seem to be available for order here, http://www.raylight.c... |

Hey Gregory,
I can't remember if it was actual brand or more Chinese stuff but that last time I went to Walmart I saw tires that size in the bicycle section. My scooter uses the same size as yours. I don't remember the price but it might be worth checking out. -Vic |

Hey Vic,
I'll have to take a look at those and see if they're any good. I'm also hoping to get up to a Vespa dealership in the north end of the city and investigate the possibility of locating tubeless tires, as they seem like they'd be easier to fix at the side of the road. |
