I have a Veloteq Commander SHO and it has a built-in alarm, as many of the scooter-style ebikes have.
I was wondering if it is safe to arm the alarm while the bike is plugged into the charger? Assuming the alarm activates while it is plugged in (I haven't tried it yet as I wanted to get feedback before trying so) would the drain on the battery from the alarm have any negative impact to the charging of the battery? I assume it would slow down the charge and increase charge time, but would it damage the battery or the charger? |

Jordon, pretty sure in armed/standby mode any alarm system would be consuming only milliamps... Ya probably see more loses from dirty plug connections wattever... I expect the alarm system will "see" full charger voltage (unless the alarm has a DC-DC converter) but it should be OK with this as charger voltage would not exceed pack voltage when fully charged anyway (probably 58V for a "48V" pack.)
Ask the dealer to be sure. Lock |
