Hey Patrick!
Toast as in burnt to a crisp, or toast as in something is wrong not worth fixin? Wouldn't mind a scooter to mess with if not burnt to a crisp... Wayne |

Hey Patrick! Well, I took it to a mechanic and back to the dealership. The frame is busted on it, cracked in two places, also the motor and controller is shot. To fix it would cost about $900 and that's before labour. The deal I made with the representative at the dealership was that I would be getting a new bike in the spring. I'll be financing it from now til then. They will be trading in my bike (which is with them still) for this deal and giving me about $350 for it. Sounds like a good deal to me, I'm expecting the invoice etc in the mail this week. |

I wouldn't wait till Spring, simply because that's exactly when all the bike prices are rocketing high to the sky. The best time is end of the season or even winter, i.e. ubiquitous boxing day we all love. That's actually when I've got my scooter from Blue Avenue, saving at least 500 bucks right on the spot. Besides, there's still a good chunk of year left, when you can safely and comfortably enjoy your bike and save as much money as you loose on your killed one. Instead of waiting and wasting on TTC I'd buy myself one like this: this and tried to get a second battery and one more charger for my new bike in turn for the killed one. That would make much more sense to me, for you and even for those guys willing to take your wreck back...

It's not my money, but if it were me, I would hold on to that charger. When you buy your new bike, it never hurts to have two. I personally keep one permanently set up in my garage for recharging whenever I come home and keep one under my seat for charging as needed during travels.
Also, these things do fail and rather than lose money on your investment, maybe you should keep it. If you paid $130 for it, I'm assuming it is a good one (Soneil?). BTW, it is not a 20ah charger. While it may be charging 20ah batteries, it will be rated in amps (the amount of current it puts out). It is likely somewhere between a 2.0 and 4.0 amp charger. |

Fred is right. 3 of my new chargers died on me while two older ones still happily work. Besides some new chargers kill batteries, mysteriously melting them one dark and scary night into something like this... http://www.flickr.com...

Is there any good (and cheap) 3 stage smart charger you can recommend? The one I got from Vince was not quite smart. Thanks |
