Is there any good (and cheap) 3 stage smart charger you can recommend? The one I got from Vince was not quite smart.

Thanks

Well I bought this one http://cgi.ebay.ca/48... about a year ago from eBay for my 2nd charger (the one I carry with me on the bike). The total cost including shipping was about $25Cdn (and no taxes!). This is a 2.5 amp charger and seems to work fine. As near as I can tell it is "smart" or as smart as the other one I have (at least 3 stages). I test it every once in a while to be sure it is still OK as I don't want to get stuck out on the road expecting it to work. If you get it, be aware it has the "round" connector so if your bike has a different one you may have to change it.

I still have my 48v SLA charger from 2 years ago....just in case my lithium craps out...agree not a bad idea to hang onto it...

Is a charger for a lithium pack (48V) the same as one that's used for an SLA pack of the same voltage? In other words can you use your SLA charger with a Lithium pack after upgrading?

No, the 48v SLA charger is from when i ran a 48v 14amp lead battery pack. I have a 48v lead acid pack i have "Just in case" something happens to my Lithium pack. I hate taking the bus unless i have to.

ONLY USE A CHARGER DESIGNED FOR YOUR BATTERY CHEMISTRY!

Sorry for yelling...just don't want anyone to get hurt or fry good batteries...

Someone with more tech knowledge can tell you why...anyone???

Thanks Fred, unfortunately the plug for the one shown is a round DIN type and the one for my ebike is PC (computer) type.

Yeah..I mentioned that in my note. Those plugs are very cheap, easy to obtain and change if you're inclined. I think they also sell converters/adapters on eBay. Or, you can steal one off an old (or fried) charger and change it...that's what I did.

I guess we can lock or close this thread. I bought a brand new bike on Saturday. Absoutely love it. I also got my money back for the charger.

I am now a proud owner of a Motorino XPa

http://www.e-ride.ca/...

I have two batteries, rides so smoothly and is comfy. I need to adjust the brakes a bit however and the mirrors, but that's about it.

I will take some pics and post them soon :)

Congratulations on your new purchase. Sounds like you've gone from a Lada to a Lexus!

Can you share what these XPa's go for now? If not, understood...no problem.

All together it came to $2500 roughly. I bought a nice helmet as well. I love the power this thing has. My old bike didn't even come close to it. I'm still getting used to these 3 gear selector. I usually just keep it in third all the time.

So far I love this thing. I get a lot of looks when I'm riding it which is cool.
